Next week Hispack and Graphispag, leading events for the Spanish packaging and printing industries respectively, will be held jointly at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, bringing together 725 direct exhibitors from around twenty countries, 1,500 brands represented, and more than 200 knowledge and networking activities. Sustainability, applied to the entire life cycle of packaging and also to printing through processes, inks and graphic supports, will be the main theme of these events.

From 24 to 27 May, Hispack and Graphispag will take the pulse of two transversal and essential industries in the Spanish productive economy, especially packaging, which moves almost 30,000 million euros a year in Spain and which finds in printing its best ally to inform, transmit, differentiate, connect and seduce the consumer through packaging. It is no coincidence that practically all packaging, labels and wrappings launched on the market are printed.

For its part, the graphics industry, which is highly fragmented and diversified into multiple specialities beyond packaging, is trying to recover from the fall in demand for other printed products caused by the pandemic and the increased digitalisation of communication, by focusing on innovation, design and personalisation. In this sense, Graphispag shows specific graphic solutions and applications, not only for packaging printing, but also for the publishing world, advertising, decoration, retail, textiles and commercial printing, among others.

Organised by Fira de Barcelona, Hispack and Graphipag will occupy more than 35,000m2 of the Gran Via venue, filling halls 1, 2 and 3. As these are industrial shows, the machinery and technology sectors will be particularly prominent, exhibiting equipment in operation for automated packaging, wrapping, packaging, bottling, labelling, coding, handling, storage and intralogistics processes, in the case of Hispack; or printing machinery in different techniques and formats, finishing, binding and transformation, in the case of Graphispag. Completing this joint offer are companies that produce packaging materials, as well as containers, packaging, labels and POS for different sectors, in addition to inks, varnishes, paper, cardboard, plastic and other print media.

Sustainability as a duty and an opportunity
Sustainability will be the focus of events whose industries must face the challenge of adapting to the new legislative framework that promotes the circular economy at European, state and regional level. For this reason, innovation at the service of environmental care will be the protagonist of an extensive programme with more than 200 activities for companies and industries that use packaging solutions or have printing needs. In four days there will be more than 180 conferences with almost 300 speakers, exhibitions, a showroom, business meetings, receptions for international delegations, awards ceremonies and assemblies of organisations.

Hispack and Graphispag will also share visitors, allowing accredited visitors from each show to access the other indistinctly. The alliance between these emblematic trade fairs is expected to attract some 35,000 professionals.
